One of the things we strive for at Clearbrook is charting the right course for our clients. We typically act as a Chief Investment Officer for some of our clients’ portfolios, making sure they are able to get the returns they want based on their needs. This is not so different from my other hobby which is sailing. When I was growing up, I wanted to be a professional sailor. Times and circumstances changed that dream and I find myself as CEO of a company managing billions of dollars. However, the startegy and tactics of a well thought out sailing regatta are similiar in many ways to a well thought out investment strategy. Not too sound cliche, but a sudden squall or market fluctuation can drive you off course and sticking to a plan or knowing when to change it can be the difference in winning or losing the race or money, depending on whether you are racing sailboats or investing money.
